Werner Heesen
“…And yet India remains a land of contrasts. High tech and tradition exist side by side, and everyday life is shaped equally by progress and centuries-old habits. It is precisely this blend that makes the country fascinating— and sometimes challenging.
Continuous change demands that we adapt our strategies and structures boldly and quickly. At the same time, there are things that, despite modernization, shift only gradually: cultural imprints, values, human behavior. Anyone who wants to understand India must therefore keep both in view—the immense dynamism and the quiet constants that define the country.”
Over the past decades, change has been more the rule than the exception for Werner Heesen. Across three continents, he worked for Deutsche Lufthansa in a variety of leadership roles—experiencing “change management” not just in theory, but living it day by day and actively shaping it. Thirteen of those years were spent in India, most recently as Director South Asia.
There, he was responsible not only for the successful establishment and expansion of the Lufthansa organization in line with the Group’s strategy for the subcontinent. His remit also included negotiations at the highest political level, demanding crisis management, the operational leadership of Indian companies, the build-up of mid-sized business units, and talks with Indian trade unions—often under complex conditions. In addition, he served as President of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce. Since 2012, he has taught at Worms University of Applied Sciences in the field of intercultural management and communication.
Werner Heesen has been bringing this extensive experience and his deep understanding of India—both in a corporate context and in the Mittelstand—into the consulting of our clients and into our own organization since 2012. Both sides benefit from his unique combination of international leadership practice and intercultural expertise.
As part of the continued development of our organization, Werner Heesen has also taken on the role of Director of our Indian subsidiary—a position in which his expertise and network are particularly valuable.
